Indeed its Publisher

Things went interesting enough. The publisher stuff is simple enough, but if your not familar with the material, it can be a little interesting to figure out. Creating a brochure wasn't very hard because of the templates. I need to review and better understand how to use the templates to create exactly what I need.

Thy Powerpoint

The powerpoint is going well, a majority of the slides that I have been assigned are almost finished. My partner and I are working on the role of technology in classrooms. I like my partner because I trust he will finish his portion with no problem. Having a partner helps me work more efficiently and effectively.

How Bout Them Games

Educators should always try to match the technology they use especially in the classroom. I really don't enjoy the idea of using instant messaging in a school setting because students have a hard time concentrating. They can distract away from the true material being taught. There are some benifits of text-based comminication, but I prefer face-to-face communication because a student needs to feel like they are the center of attention in the classroom setting. I am not super up to date with the whole podcast situation, but it seems to me that it is nothing more than another technological barrier in the classroom. I think that using educational games in classrooms with younger students is a great educational tool, but I think that trying to apply it to older student classroom settings is a waste of time.

---Del.icio.us---

I did a lot of looking and thinking as it pertained to the whole social bookmarking theme and overall it kind of confused me. After awhile of figuring out what was going on it made sense, but i'm not sure how to successfully applicate it to the classroom. The idea of social bookmarking is a great idea, but overall i'm not a big fan of such. Maybe someday I can sit down and make sense of it and applicate it, but probably not anytime soon.

The Wikis

I personally think that wikis can be an interesting tool, but there power can be abused. People use wikis to provide useful information to be used for further referance and understanding. I don't think that I will use wikis in a classroom setting because it is fairly unreliable because the fact that the information can be just plain false.

I believe that learning by conversing in communities is effective in some situations, but not in others. I personally think that traditional instruction is the most effective way to teach because the students feel as if they are getting a more hands on experience. I could use the attitudes of the students as evidence as to how much more efficient that communitites.

I think that all students have different learning abilties and their personalitities effect the way they learn. If the students take the personalality test they could use the information to learn what areas they are strong in and what areas need work. I think the personality test is a good way to get a better understanding of your students if you use it in an opinion basis only.

Thy Spreadsheet

I enjoy spreadsheet, it can make complicated things easy and if misunderstood can make easy things hard, but I like it. I plan on using spreadsheet in a classroom setting because it can make sense of complicated subject matter. As a teacher, spreadsheet is an advantage over a calculator because you can solve many equations at once. I like the three functions of spreadsheets, but many more applications can be used.

-Inspiration-

I visited the website and found useful information on the various uses for inspiration. I found that inspiration is very basic in it's reasoning that students will pay better attention if they organize using visual aids. I think that it would make a great school influence if the students are willing to spend a little more time organizing with their busy lives.

I am personally a big fan of PowerPoint presentations and format. Students can help each other if and only if the teacher is relaying good and useful information. Allowing the students to try study groups in blogs after class is a good idea.

Voicethread

I am not a super big fan of voicethread because it is so far advanced that I barely understand it. So I am probably not going to try to put into work in my future classroom because I think it would be to complicated for the students.

Chapter 6 Applications

I think that using knowledge forums is interesting and seems like a good idea. The information posted in knowledge forums can be useful to students because somebody might have more ideas on subjects than others and if it is posted it is useful to other students as well. Wikipedia is a great resource, but I have never been a big fan of it because most teachers and professors prefer you to not use it as a central source for information. The reason it is useful is because it is constantly updated, but can also lead to false information and misleading dialogue.

The Usefullness of Blogs

I personally never have time to blog outside of school anymore, but I enjoy to do it if what i'm blogging about is useful. When people blog about everything from their favorite color to their favorite tv show it sometimes gets irritating, but overall blogging is a useful tool. I know for a fact that blogging can work in education because in high school several math teachers would post homework on their blogs. This was especially great for people like me who had jobs to do outside of the classroom and it allowed me to review homework assignments online once I got home. When I say people like myself I am referring to those who had part time employment while in high school. Looking back I kind of wish more of my teachers would have used blogging as a way to comminicate with students. I also think I would have came to class more prepared on more occasions if they had blogged.
